The main theme of the project is the social inclusion of young people with less opportunities.
The project intends to promote the active participation, the education to the respect of differences, the affirmation of equal opportunities for everybody, favoring the struggle to the discriminations through the use of arts and sport. It intends to set paths of inclusion through the implementation, at local level, of artistic laboratories and sport activities aimed for young people with less opportunities.
The artistic laboratories can be understood as places of creativity and knowledge, experimentation, discovery and auto-learning, points of meeting, training and collaboration, spaces where the creativity of everyone can express itself. The sport activities are seen as vectors for the social inclusion, for the social life share and the interaction between cultures and individuals, activities which facilitate the socializing, helping to overcome the differences and to fight the discriminations. The project was born from the experience matured by the proposing subject in the project “All inclusive” implementation organized within the Youth Program. We believe that, in strength of the experience matured, a path of inclusion is favorite by the mixed constitution of the group which the project involves and from the planning of artistic activities, sport and manuals.
Art and sport are, in "Hands on" project, tools through which stimulate the participation of young people favoring the processes of social inclusion.
The project foresees:
A) the implementation of artistic laboratories, already started at local level during the last year, in a experimental way, by “Link” together with the local associations working with young mental disabled people, ANFASS and VIVERE. The artistic laboratories activities are inspired to the methodology used in the visual communication laboratories conceived by Bruno Munari, in which he allows the participants to appropriate some expressive and creative languages through the direct experimentation of materials, tools and techniques. The “Munari method” can be reassumed in the old Chinese proverb: "If I hear I forget, if I see I remember, if I do I understand". "Doing", we know the tools and the rules of the figurative language, and it leaves space for the creativeness and for the possibility of anyone to express himself.
B) the sport activities implementation, aimed for mixed groups of young people (immigrated, at risk of deviance, disabled, local and international volunteers) set up in collaboration with the local youth sport associations, with which a consolidated cooperation exists. Such activities intends to increase the value of the physical and relationship abilities of everyone. Through a better awareness of their own limits, the young people will be able to learn how to respect the others and to develop abilities to make group through team games. The European volunteers will participate in all the phases of the planned activities giving their contribution in terms of proposals. The project foresees the implementation of food education and prevention of risk ways of behaving workshops (alcoholism, tobacco addiction, drugs), and medical aid.
“ Hands on" project intends to promote the difference as wealth, intercultural learning, interaction among young people with different backgrounds, to work and to live in group, and also to offer the opportunity to know the host Country culture to the European volunteers. The European volunteers together with the local volunteers and the team, will cooperate in the artistic workshops and in the sport activities realization, following all the phases of it from the planning, to the preparation, realization, documentation and evaluation. Thanks to the methodology used, the European volunteers can easily develop an active and proposing role and assume roles of responsibility proportioned to their attitudes. The presence of volunteers coming from different European Countries will give assistant value to the activities developed at local level and will enable to approach the community, the local volunteers and the participants to the European activities.
